FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. (Aug. 06, 2009) - Piedmont Fayette Hospital's Auxiliary has done it again! In their efforts to help provide comfort and care for everyone at Piedmont Fayette Hospital (PFH), the Auxiliary has generously donated 12 new X-Tenz Sleeper Sofas.
These comfortable sofas extend into beds, allowing patients' families and friends to rest better while caring for their loved ones. The X-tenz Sleeper Sofas are located in patients' rooms and are replacing older furniture as part of the hospital's second floor renovation.
"It's difficult when your loved one is in the hospital," said Diane Sartini, 2009-2009 president of the Piedmont Fayette Auxiliary. "We understand the pain family members are feeling, often coupled with exhaustion, and want to make their experience as comfortable as possible. We're happy to contribute in any way we can."
The 270 adult members of the Auxiliary along with more than 150 youth volunteers contribute their time and talents to the hospital, in addition to their financial contributions. The Auxiliary volunteers are always friendly smiling faces at PFH whether they are in the gift shop, pushing the cheer cart, assisting patients and visitors at the information desk or raising funds for their hospital projects.
"The PFH Auxiliary volunteers continue to go above and beyond for our patients and their families," said Darrell Cutts, president and CEO of Piedmont Fayette Hospital. "The tireless efforts of these ambassadors support all members of the Piedmont Fayette community and truly make an impact upon everyone here."
The Auxiliary grants scholarships for local students pursuing a career in the medical field and coordinates several community activities including blood drives, food pantry drives and book fairs. They provide courtesy shuttle transportation for patients and visitors around the growing PFH campus, and also participate on a state level through the Georgia Hospital Association's Council of Auxiliary Volunteers (CoAV).
