Dr. Burkle received his medical degree from La Salle University in Mexico City where he graduated with honors (cum laude). He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami, where he served as a Medical Chief Resident in 1996 and was granted the Howard Kane Resident of the Year Award and Teacher of the Year Award. He completed his fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases at Mount Sinai Medical Center followed by a preceptorship in Advanced Echocardiography at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Additionally, he held a teaching position at Mount Sinai in the department of Trans-esophageal echocardiography in the year 2000.
Dr. Burkle specializes in Echocardiography (cardiac ultrasound) and Nuclear Cardiology (radioisotope imaging).
Dr. Burkle is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases. In addition, he is board certified in Nuclear Cardiology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Burkle has been an instructor in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) for physicians, nurses and allied healthcare professionals on behalf of the American Heart Association since 1994. He has published numerous articles in scientific journals, medical book chapters and participates in clinical research. He joined The Atlanta Cardiology Group in the year 2000 and became one of the founders of Piedmont Heart Institute in 2007, where he is currently a consultant cardiologist.
