Atlanta, Ga. (May 2, 2014) – Piedmont and WellStreet have partnered to expand fast access to quality care by launching Piedmont Urgent Care by WellStreet. At seven renamed facilities located in Buckhead, Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Alpharetta, Austell and Virginia Highland, WellStreet will be the exclusive provider of urgent care for Piedmont.
Urgent care centers provide walk-in treatment for non-life-threatening illness and injury seven days a week, 12 hours a day, and are an excellent alternative to busy emergency departments better suited for life-threatening situations and when traditional primary care offices are not open.
“Piedmont has great urgent care facilities and physicians serving the Henry and Fayette county communities, and this partnership expands Piedmont urgent care services to the Atlanta area,” said Sidney Kirschner, CEO of Piedmont Physicians. “Eliminating gaps in care through collaboration between providers as well as expanding access to care is a focus at Piedmont.” Piedmont’s primary care and cardiology practices now offer same-day appointments and convenient hours including some weekend appointments.
“By partnering with Piedmont, WellStreet gains a healthcare partner with a similar commitment to clinical excellence and patient experience as our own,” said Lee Resnick, M.D., chief medical officer for WellStreet Urgent Care. “WellStreet’s physicians are proud to implement Piedmont’s clinical quality program and participate in their clinically integrated health system to ensure our patients have access to the best care in the most coordinated and efficient way possible.
“The reputation and size of Piedmont offers our patients an important portal of entry into primary and specialty care services specific and appropriate to their clinical needs, from expert cardiologists to the latest in orthopaedic surgery and injury care,” Dr. Resnick added.
Piedmont is a not-for-profit, five-hospital health system with multiple groups of physicians providing inpatient and outpatient care to communities in North Georgia for over 100 years. WellStreet is a national urgent and family healthcare provider that began serving Atlanta communities in 2012.
Piedmont Urgent Care facilities operated by WellStreet feature warm welcoming environments, onsite digital X-ray capabilities and accept most major insurance plans, Medicare, Medicaid, and others. We also offer attractive self-pay rates listed under payment information at wellstreet.com including $49 pre-sports and camp participation physicals. Typical visits last less than 45 minutes.
