NEWNAN, Ga. (Nov. 09, 2009) – Three years ago, long-time Newnan resident Bill Ward was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Not only has the 77-year-old been through surgery and chemotherapy since then, but he has had countless follow-up tests and scans with radiology services at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.
“Everyone I worked with was great,” said Ward. “They were knowledgeable, efficient and with nothing less than a ‘can do’ attitude. I can’t see why anyone would go anywhere else.”
Each year radiologic technologists around the country join in celebrating National Radiologic Technology Week, an event that commemorates the discovery of the x-ray and recognizes the dedicated professionals practicing in the radiologic sciences. This year, Piedmont Newnan Hospital (PNH) wants to recognize its radiology staff for their exceptional work and patient care during the week of Nov. 8-14.
“We are grateful to all of our radiology technologists who continue to provide excellent service to our patients year in and year out,” said Dwayne Hansberry, director of radiology at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. “They remain committed to providing the best in personal care, and we are proud to honor them during National Radiologic Technology Week.”
Piedmont Newnan Hospital offers many radiological services to its patients, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), ultrasound, nuclear medicine, fluoroscopy, x-ray and a fully integrated PACS system. PNH Women’s Diagnostic Center offers screening and diagnostic mammography in addition to breast ultrasound and bone density exams. There are five board certified radiologists and a host of modality specific registered technologists on staff.
Furthermore, Piedmont Newnan Hospital is moving forward on its new Piedmont Outpatient Center located at the Summit Healthplex on Highway 34 East. The fully-digital center, which is scheduled to open in January 2010, will upgrade PNH’s outpatient radiological services. The facility will have on-site radiologists and will provide CT scans, diagnostic X-ray, ultrasound, digital mammography and DEXA scans, as well as stereotactic procedures such as breast biopsies.
