Your Baby’s Premiere!
NEWNAN, Ga. (May 28, 2008) – Piedmont Newnan Hospital’s Radiology Department has added a new 3D/4D Ultrasound service that gives parents their first snapshot of their baby. The 3D/4D Ultrasound service captures images rapidly then animates them to offer patients a realistic view of their baby.
This primarily elective procedure utilizes a technique that allows visualization of the baby moving in real-time. With 4D imaging, a three-dimensional image is continuously updated, providing a “live action” view. This procedure is voluntary, but a physician may refer a patient to have the 3D/4D Ultrasound done along with the fetal diagnostic to get the clearest picture of the baby.
“The new 3D/4D Ultrasound will give parents-to-be a more in-depth ‘sneak-peak’ of their baby,” said Linda Huff, M.D., board-certified radiologist at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. “They will get to see what the physicians see in terms of movement and distinct features of their child.”
Because the clarity is so sharp, parents will see characteristics of the baby’s face, facial expressions, limb movements and actions the baby makes. The ultrasound only takes about 20 minutes to complete, and the process is painless. Patients receive a courtesy DVD of still and moving images of the baby to take home with them.
