- National Hospital Week is May 10-16
- National Nurses Week is May 6-12
FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. (May 12, 2009) – Piedmont Fayette Hospital wouldn’t be a renowned top hospital without its dedicated team of healthcare employees. In recognition of National Nurses Week and National Hospital Week, Piedmont Fayette Hospital would like to shine the spotlight on its nurses and healthcare workers for the outstanding care they provide to patients.
“We often get so busy that we sometimes don’t say ‘thank you’ enough to our employees,” said Darrell Cutts, president and CEO of Piedmont Fayette Hospital. “These weeks of celebration are our way of letting them know that we appreciate the top quality of care they give to our patients and the community all year long.”
National Hospital Week has been celebrated since 1921 when a magazine editor suggested that more information about hospitals might alleviate public fears about the “shrouded” institutions of the day – not the case today. This week is now celebrated as the nation’s largest healthcare event and is a time to focus public attention on the many contributions hospitals and their staff make to their communities. National Hospital Week follows on the heels of National Nurses Week, where hospitals raise public awareness about the value of nursing and help to educate the public about the vital role registered nurses play in meeting the healthcare needs of our community.
Piedmont Fayette Hospital extends a sincere thank you to its more than 1,100 employees and its medical staff of more than 360 physicians. Activities planned for this week include ice cream socials, service awards and other employee recognition events.
Nurses as well as the rest of the healthcare staff are an integral part of the hospital team and environment, offering hands-on patient care and assisting physicians in the operating room, among a host of other duties. Piedmont Fayette Hospital extends their deepest gratitude and utmost admiration to the hardworking individuals of its healthcare team.
