NEWNAN, Ga. (February 25, 2011)—On February 18, 2011, PAPP Clinic signed an exclusive letter of intent to pursue an affiliation with Piedmont Healthcare, as part of Piedmont Physicians Group. The two groups are now working toward an agreement that will mold the partnership to include PAPP Clinic physicians. This opportunity to bring PAPP Clinic physicians together with the Piedmont family of providers in Coweta County is filled with great promise and in the best interest of the shared community served by both organizations.
PAPP Clinic is a multispecialty physician group with six locations and 11 medical specialties. The Clinic’s roots in Coweta County date back to 1919, and the PAPP physicians have a deep understanding of the healthcare needs of the community. Coupled with a common interest in bringing together quality providers with the capacity to serve the healthcare demand in the community, a partnership will enable the two parties to work together in shaping the future of healthcare for area residents.
“With a common interest in providing quality care for residents of Coweta County, Piedmont Physicians Group and PAPP Clinic share synergies that make the relationship a natural fit,” said Stan W. Smith, M.D., president of PAPP Clinic. “Both organizations have long, strong legacies of community patient care.”
Since early 2007 when Piedmont Healthcare welcomed Piedmont Newnan Hospital to its family of providers, Piedmont has worked to grow and expand hospital and physician services, improving healthcare access and options for community members closer to home. Construction on the new hospital facility on Poplar Road at I-85 progresses nicely, and PNH leadership anticipates opening by spring 2012.
“The future of healthcare in Coweta County is even brighter today, as we work to formalize a PAPP Clinic partnership that will align our interests and vision,” said Berney Crane, president and chief executive officer for Piedmont Medical Care Corporation (PMCC). PMCC is the administrative parent company of Piedmont Physicians Group (PPG). PPG has 11 office locations in Coweta County with 18 primary care physicians and specialists.
