National Volunteer Week April 10-16
FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. (April 8, 2011) – Piedmont Fayette would not be the place that it is today without its volunteers. The Auxiliary volunteers are always familiar and friendly faces at Piedmont Fayette Hospital, whether they are in the gift shop, driving the courtesy shuttle, assisting patients and visitors at the information desk or raising funds for a variety of hospital projects.
In recognition of National Volunteer Week, April 10-16, Piedmont Fayette Hospital is shining the spotlight on its dedicated Auxiliary volunteers. The 270 members of the Auxiliary have provided more than 520,000 hours of volunteer time to the hospital since its opening in 1997, and continue to give back to the hospital every day. In recognition of their service, Piedmont Fayette’s volunteers will be presented with a gift of acknowledgement.
"Piedmont Fayette Hospital is a not-for-profit organization which relies on the community for support,” said Darrell Cutts, president and CEO of Piedmont Fayette Hospital. “Our volunteers provide many services to the hospital on a daily basis for which we are profoundly grateful. They help us to fulfill our promise to provide good care to our patients every single day."
Members of the community that have benefited from volunteer services at the hospital are also invited to share their appreciation on Facebook. Piedmont Fayette Hospital can be found at facebook.com/PiedmontFayetteHospital.
Students looking for a way to get involved may be interested in the hospital’s summer youth volunteer program. The eight week program provides CPR training, an opportunity to attend a state conference and day-to-day shadowing experiences with hospital employees. Students who wish to participate must be 14 years of age, submit an essay on why they want to volunteer, provide a letter of reference and be able to commit a minimum of 25 hours over the summer. Applications are currently being accepted for summer 2011. For more information or to join the Piedmont Fayette Hospital Auxiliary, please call 770-719 -7098.
