It’s The Journey, Inc., the producer of the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer, Announces Recipients of its 2011 Grants
ATLANTA, Ga.– (April 6, 2011) Cancer Wellness at Piedmont has been awarded a grant in the amount of $35,000 by It’s The Journey, Inc., producers of the Atlanta 2-Day walk for breast cancer. The grant will support Pink at Piedmont - a comprehensive wellness program of Piedmont Hospital for women undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Designed to speed recovery and reduce reoccurrence, PINK is a 12-week exercise, nutrition, and support program offered free to breast cancer patients in the Atlanta area. You do not have to be a Piedmont patient to take advantage of this program. This grant is one of 19 It’s The Journey awarded this year to organizations across Georgia.

“Even in these tough economic times, the board of directors was able to grant essential funding for many local organizations,” says Kim Goff, executive director of It’s The Journey, Inc. “We wanted to ensure that these organizations can continue to provide services from basic clinical exams to hereditary screening and follow-up treatment for breast care. We are proud that our funds remain focused on local needs that make a difference in our community.”
It’s The Journey, Inc., awarded grants to 19 organizations across the state. These organizations include those who provide treatment to underserved communities, educate patients on early detection practices, offer multi-language treatment options and much more. The Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer, which will take place on the weekend of September 24 – 25, 2011, coupled with other fundraising efforts by the foundation, enables It’s The Journey, Inc., to support worthy programs across Georgia.
