NEWNAN, Ga. (January 24, 2010) – The Piedmont Newnan Hospital Auxiliary has announced its recent decorator show home raised $10,747 in ticket sales for the organization. All proceeds benefit the Auxiliary’s pledge to the Piedmont Newnan Hospital Outpatient Center and annual scholarships. The event, which took place in late November, involved eight designers and featured the former home of Dr. and Mrs. Jimmy Thomasson in Newnan, Ga.
The Piedmont Newnan Hospital Auxiliary provides an array of volunteer services to the hospital and its patients. Auxilians deliver newspapers, mail and flowers to patient rooms. They also transport patients and support various departmental needs throughout the hospital. The hospital information desk, gift shop, Wellness Center and Piedmont Outpatient Center are also supported by Auxilians.
Volunteer assignments are made by the Auxiliary board based on hospital and patient needs, as well as state regulations. Volunteers are an integral part of the healthcare team, and applicants are required to submit to a criminal background check and drug screen as part of the Auxiliary’s interviewing process. Upon acceptance into the Auxiliary, new members attend an eight-hour hospital orientation and then fifteen more hours of on-the-job training with more seasoned volunteers.
Auxiliary volunteers are committed to contributing to the health and wellbeing of their community. For more information about the Piedmont Newnan Hospital Auxiliary, call 678-854-2487 or visit piedmontnewnan.org.
