Practice currently collecting supplies for donation to Operation Sandbox.
EAST ELIJAY, Ga. (April 1, 2011)—Piedmont Physicians at East Ellijay is now accepting donations on behalf of Operation Sandbox, a non-profit organization supporting troops currently stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Piedmont internists Islam Eltarawy, M.D., and Asim Kidwai, M.D., invite members of the community to make a donation that will help bring some of the comforts of home to those currently serving in the Middle East.
Deborah Dooley, a medical assistant with the East Ellijay practice, started collecting donations for her son, U.S. Army PFC Stephen Kincaid, currently deployed in Afghanistan. When other members of the practice and several patients expressed an interest in donating items, the office got in contact with their local division of Operation Sandbox to begin collecting supplies to be mailed to active service members in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Any non-perishable food items, toiletries, as well as games and DVDs can be donated to care packages. Operation Sandbox asks that you not donate books, magazines or canned food items. A list of requested items, as well as restrictions, can be found on the organization’s website at operationsandboxga.com.
Piedmont Physicians at East Ellijay is located at 97 Hefner St, Suite 202 in East Ellijay, Ga., and is open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. They can be reached at (706) 635-1400.
The staff of Piedmont Physicians at East Ellijay is proud to support the mission of Operation Sandbox and looks forward to receiving donations on behalf of our troops overseas. Our success as a community is made possible by their hard work and leadership.
