FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. (Oct. 8, 2009) – Piedmont Surgery Specialists is proud to add general surgeon Timothee J. Friesen, M.D., to its practice. On Monday, Oct. 5, Dr. Friesen became part of Piedmont Fayette Hospital ‘s (PFH) medical staff.
Dr. Friesen earned his bachelor’s degree magna cum laude from Bethel College in North Newton, Kan., and then received his medical degree from University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, Md. He subsequently completed a number of residency rotations, including pediatric surgery at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., general surgery and trauma at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Md., categorical general surgery at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., where he received the outstanding senior resident award, and also served as senior resident in the hepatobiliary transplant service at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C.
“We are excited to have Dr. Friesen join the Piedmont Healthcare family,” said Darrell Cutts, president and chief executive officer of Piedmont Fayette Hospital. “His extensive work and research experience will be a valuable addition to Piedmont Surgery Specialists and the Fayette community.”
Dr. Friesen has worked as a research intern on projects at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan., and the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Md. He also worked as a laboratory research technician at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore.
Dr. Friesen accepts all major forms of insurance and is available for appointments beginning Monday, Oct. 5. The office is located on Piedmont Fayette Hospital’s campus at 1265 Highway 54 W, Suite 309, Fayetteville, Ga.
