Atlanta, Ga. (October 28, 2013) – Susan Chapman, MS, RD, LD, manager of clinical nutrition at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital, was sworn into duty as a new member of the Georgia Board of Examiners of Licensed Dietitians by Governor Nathan Deal on Monday, October 21.
“We are extremely proud of Susan for her recent appointment to the State Licensure Board for dietitians,” said Les Donahue, president and CEO of Piedmont Atlanta. “Nutrition is a critical factor in the treatment of disease and in maintaining good health. Susan’s work on the board will only enhance the level of protection for the public’s health and safety.”
Chapman’s duties include reviewing applications for state licensure of dietitians, ethics concerns and more. She is one of seven members serving on the State Licensure Board.
“I’m honored to have been selected to serve,” said Chapman, who has been a registered, licensed dietitian for over 30 years. “I look forward to representing my colleagues as the nutrition experts for the residents of Georgia.”
Before she was manager of clinical nutrition at Piedmont Atlanta, Chapman served in clinical management roles at two other Atlanta hospitals. She is an active member of the Georgia Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and has a special interest in training future dietitians through internships.
A graduate of the University of Georgia, Chapman interned at the Houston Veterans Administration Medical Center while completing a master’s degree in nutrition from Texas Woman’s University.
