Dr. Dimitrios Karmpaliotis earned his medical degree from the Athens University School of Medicine in Chaidari-Athens, Greece and completed his internship and residency at the Brown University School of Medicine. He completed fellowships in critical care at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital; cardiology at Beth Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School; and in interventional cardiology at Emory University Hospital.
In addition to his clinical duties, Dr. Karmpaliotis is a clinical assistant professor of medicine at Georgia Health Sciences University and has had his work published several times. More than 100 citations of his work have been included in peer review journals and in two book chapters. He is the principal investigator in PHI Same day PCS registry (Greece Study), principal investigator in PHI CTO Database and co-investigator in the Atlanta I & II PHI Study.
Dr. Karmpaliotis is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases. Dr. Karmpaliotis has a special interest and expertise in Chronic Total Occlusions (CTO) and complex coronary interventions. He and a team of cardiologists have developed a nationally recognized CTO program involving physicians who have long been dedicated to the evaluation and treatment of CTO patients in every perspective. This program hosts world-renowned cardiologists four times a year for workshops focused on treating coronary CTOs.
